The included controller has limited settings, but it remembers how the light was set when it was turned off. Customers can use any timer, but if they want to simulate daylight, sunrise, sun overhead, sunset, and moonlight, they will need to use the provided 2 channel controller. Some customers experienced problems with the cable plugs heating up or the product not expanding to the correct size mentioned. However, for the price, the light puts out a lot of light and is excellent. It is perfect for basic, no-frills, low-tech tanks with undemanding plants. In terms of plant growth, customers are unsure, with some experiencing discolored water. Customers should note that only the white light matters concerning plant growth. The other colors are for aesthetic purposes only. Few customers recommended using a shop light that will last longer.
