I had the same problem. Then took of the rubber seal and switched it around every which way. Finally got such a good seal, it was nearly impossible to get the lid off. Too much hassle, so I returned it.

Yes it will fit 8 ozs of butter and still have room for more.

Yes, there is a silicon seal around the underside of the lid. I have heard that there’s been a small problem with it not sealing tightly, but I haven’t experienced this. I put mine in the frig at night and pull it out first thing in the morning. It’s been great for the few months I’ve had it. And it’s really nice looking!

Can the lid be removed if you only have one hand to use?

I have a smaller hand. I can open the lid one handed. I would definitely not pick this up from the lid as it does slide off. On one try I needed to push it against my body to pick off the lid. I can also carry it one handed.

How long can I jeep butter on the counter in this?

I keep mine out until it needs replacing. It hasn’t gone bad so far. Hope this helps!

The rubber seal broke on the lid . Mine is only a few months old ? Is this normal

I've had mine for a few months and love it. I have never put it in the dishwasher or even in the water so I haven't had any problem.
