Does the electric melting furnace crucible need to be glazed before use?

I always recommend slowly seasoning a crucible prior to your first use that is heating The Crucible up starting at 400° Fahrenheit let it sit for 10 minutes raise it to 800 degrees Fahrenheit let it sit for 10 minutes, 1200°F, then 1800, this helps season the crucible and it will last longer.

I need to know if in the display the marked temperature is in ° F or in ° C ？

Is it possible to melt steel?

The Gold Melting Furnace description specifically says the maximum temperature is 2000°F. Not Celsius. You would not be able to melt steel as it does not melt until about 2750°F.

Can you make Mokume Gane in this or any electrc furnace?

Not this one, it doesnt get hot enough, i didnt look before i bought min

First time use. Does it have to be broke in?

No. Not really. It will be kinda slow at first heating up. After that it will get better and better.

Why does the power turn on and off?

Does the power turn off or is it turning the heating element off once it reaches temperature? If the breaker is flipping then that outlet can't hand the draw.

How long can use it in its medium heat, like 500c but 5 hours runing? Is this posible?

If the Melting Furnace is used at 500 ° for 5 hours, our machine can be allowed to operate in this way, but the use time should not be extended too much. You need to pay attention to maintenance after use, so the life of the product will be much higher

Can you use this to heat treat a knife?

Yes, it can be run with the lid open. The internal cavity is maybe 10 inches long so short bladed knives only.
