Question : What is the shelf life of this item?
Answer : I purchased my 8 oz. bottle about 4 years ago, still works great. I transferred some into a smaller bottle to use, then refilled it when emptied.
Question : Is this strips or solution?
Answer : This is a solution.
Question : Is this iodine?
Answer : NO, this is not iodine. This is just a special kind of dye that changes color depending on the acidity of a solution.
Question : Can I put 3 drops of the solution in an 8 ounce cup of water?
Answer : I would not advise 3 drops for 8 oz to be accurate. The container that came with my original test kit only holds about 1/2 tablespoon of water. So, if you want/or need to test 8 ounces, you would have to calculate how many 1/2 tablespoons are in 8 oz. Approximately 32, times that by 3, you get 96 drops. So, it would be easier and more economical to test 1/2 teaspoon of water. Hope that helped.
Question : Can I use this to test the pH in Kombucha?
Answer : I think it will work to test booch just never allow this to cross contaminate food or beverages.
Question : Is the buffer pH 4 coming with certified quality?
Answer : I don’t think so. The bottle does not indicate any official tracking lot or date. I did calibrate my pH pen with it and the spa seems to respond correctly to the readings from the pH reader.
Question : Do I only need to calibrate near my target range?
Answer : You always need to calibrate two points. If you desire to measure between 4 and 8, I would calibrate at 4 and 7. Some will tell you to calibrate at three points. The three points would be 4, 7, and 10. I do not think that is necessary. pH 7 should always be one of your calibration points. You should store your pH meter in pH probe storage solution between uses.
Question : Will this solution root cuttings?
Answer : This is not a plant nutrient it is a solution for pH machines. I had bought it because it said plant nutrient had to get a refund.
Question : How does the test indicator solution rate? Reliable or should I stick with a pH meter?
Answer : Very reliable. I use both though to be spot on.
