The GE Profile PHC08LY is a room air conditioner suitable for use in double hung style windows. Each side panel, when fully extended, can fit up to 37" window width. The unit sticks out about 8" into the room from the accordion slides on each side. It also drains well but frequently ices up. It is very quiet compared to other air conditioning units and can be used at night without disrupting sleep. However, the remote control's buttons are not illuminated. The product seems to handle hot and humid weather, such as in Florida, but one reviewer mentioned that it might not be effective in a large room. The unit is easy to install and has a high-quality build. There are concerns that the AC is prone to freezing up, and a few reviewers reported that the unit stopped working after a few months of Constant use.
