What kind of stands can I use to mount these speakers upright (not sideways) for my home theater in my family room?

As far as I can tell, these speakers are not designed to be mounted to or sit on a typical speaker stand. Some satellite speakers have either a keyhole slot or threaded insert in the back into which a wall/ceiling mount or stand will attach. Instead, they have a proprietary bracket that you screw to a wall/ceiling/corner.

Is Receiver required or plug into outlet?

Plug it right into your house outlet!

Do I need an amplifier?

An amplifier may not be necessary, depends on your source to the speakers. If you are using a receiver or audio out on a device, it should work but again, the sound level will vary unless you are using an amplifier or the source is amplified.
