The L-eXtreme filter is geared for emission nebulae that have lots of Hydrogen-Alpha, which includes most nebulae. Some galaxies emit Ha, so this filter will enhance that aspect of light coming from galaxies. This filter is best suited for one-shot color cameras.

Can this filter be used with the canon r which is then attached to a william optics zenith star 61 apo ii?

You should be able to attach this to the telescope, typically on one end of the field flattener if you’re using one. It doesn’t attach to the camera directly given that it’s a 2inch diameter filter. So you can use it with a 2 inch filter drawer or wheel. If you’re using a 2 inch nose piece attached to the camera and pushed in to the 2 inch opening of the telescope that nose piece maybe able to host a 2inch filter. I’ve used all 3 of these methods to use my L-Extreme filter with my 60mm Apertura doublet.

Can this type of filter be used with monochrome cameras (ie zwo asi 1600mm)?

You can but it’s not the best use. The intent of this filter is to allow OSC users a means to capture Ha emission on the red pixels, and Oiii on the blue and green pixels. These can later be processed independently in your software. With mono cameras all light passing through the filter will register on all pixels. The Ha and Oii will be mixed and inseparable. Mono cameras are best served by single band or color filters, or broadband (uv/ir blocking) for luminance or b & w images.

I have a dslr, t-ring, and a 2" field flattener. how do i attach this filter, keeping back focus properly?

The field flattener should have thread in the barrel – the barrel being the part that inserts into the focuser tension collar.

Does it make any sense to use this filter for visual, not imaging?

Such filters are useful only for imaging.
