Answer : Try applying some CA glue to the top edge and spray some activator to quickly cure the glue.

Answer : It is very easy to drill new holes wherever you need them, you may be able to trim a bit off of each end and have the holes match up if that would be to your choice.

Answer : I got them 36 its easy to cut them to your size.
Question : Does this item leave a sweep arc on hardwood over time?
Answer : The bristles are soft so if it is mounted properly, it should not mark the floor. I do not suggest that the installation results in a bend in the bristles that would wear the finish from a hardwood floor.
