We wouldn't call them unbreakable, but acrylic is certainly not glass. I do not think this is the right fit for your application though. First, these frames are heavy and they can easily fall and hurt your children. Second, the frame can be opened without much strength. Third, magnets are choking hazards. A much better fit would be something much lighter and the frame is fully secured. Thank you for your interest.

I would not consider this picture frame to be waterproof at all. The two sides are attached by strong magnets but do not create a watertight seal.

Do the smaller frames also have UV protection?

I don't think so, theres little indentions where the magnets and metal click together. The further apart they are (ie. thick matted pics) the magnets will weaken. It works fine with singlesheet thickness of paper/pic etc.

I would say yes, these frames are high quality and the magnet strong, so both acrylic plates are tight. If you need something absolutely air tight, then I am not so sure.

You need the magnets…. They hold the front and the back acrylic pieces together. They are very small, hardly noticeable.

Is each individual frame 6lbs? Or is all five of the frames equal to 6 lbs?

For the 5-pack 5x7 frame listing, it is 5 frames together that is about 6 lbs.

I haven't, but these are pretty heavy (good quality). I am not sure whether I would try hanging them up.

Can these be etched with etching cream? Has anyone tried?

I don’t know. I didn’t tried any other option. I returned them.
