What can the cable be used for?

The cable is suitable for solar battery connection and transfer, and automotive batteries transfer, and can be used in a variety of batteries, solar panels, motorcycles, lawn mowers, ATV, RV, boat, trolling motors, tractors, and other equipment that requires SAE plugs.

Some pictures show red as the male connector & some show black as the male connector. What color wire goes to which connector?

These are both red/male black/female.

Why does the 14ga pic show the red to the male, but the 10ga pic shows the red to the shrouded female? I need 10ga what color to pin type will I get?

There is a reason for the different connectors. The connectors with the red being the male are to be used on the device that is not producing power such as a light. The end on the power side will have the female connector as the red for safety so the positive does not ground out if it touches something conductive accidentally.
