I have not used these for cream eye shadows, I have found that using the tip of my finger applies well and doesn't mute the color of cream eye shadows.

Warm water. Buy pink soap called zote. A little goes a long way. Wet soap and brush and sweep bristles on bar of soap. use hand to clean brushes until the water is clear and bristles look like new.

Is this the same brush as the original eye shade brush that was sold separately?

The brushes in this set are the Base Shadow Brush and the Deluxe Crease Brush. Both brushes are in the Real Techniques Starter Set, however neither are sold separately.

Would these work to put on powdered touch up for hair roots?

Most definitely. They are perfect!!!
