I don’t make iced tea in the actual tea maker. I’d be afraid the glass would crack as it gets pretty hot. I pour the tea into a gallon jug add ice to the top of the jug, lemon and sugar and stir. It’s instant iced tea and delicious!

No, water is somehow pumped up and drips through the basket.

Are there any plastic parts that come in contact with the water?

Only the lid might touch water when boiling.
