My hunter x2 connects to my wifi but the app won’t finish the installation. anyone with this issue?

Start the setup process over, and connect to the HUNTER wifi that it creates. It will then ask for YOUR wifi & password, and it will auto connect to that. Be patient. It takes about 20 minutes to set it up.

Is this a simple do-it-yourself install (plug/play) or does it require a licensed contractor to install?

Yes, it is as simple as plug and play if you have a smart phone or a laptop with WiFi attached to your house network. Just follow the instructions provided with the device.

Does the x2 wand only work on 2.4 ghz wifi or will it connect to my router 5g and/or my 6g orbi mesh?

Not certain about connecting the mesh router, but there shouldn’t be an issue. The module is quite advanced. I set up our wand in April 2022 (new house construction). Installation was a little tricky but a little patience and common sense will pay off. I’m able to control my entire 6 zone irrigation from anywhere at any time through the wand’s mobile app. Best investment! Tip: purchase the sprinkler head adjustment tool to fine-tune the arc direction and spray.

Can it be seen and controlled in Google Home?

I use Google Nest Hub for wifi throughout the home which provided networking to this device. With that said, I’m curious what you would find useful to have it connected to GoogleHome? Once I installed this module, I used it to setup Hydrowize app. With the app I’ve configured a watering schedule that is adaptive to rain or sun, along with reports of trends. Given the spike in rain, it’s automatically saving my system from watering, already saving me the cost of this module. If you do see a better use via GoogleHome, I’d love to learn about it.

Can u shut the sprinkler system from anywhere ?

I don’t think there is a distance limit but not sure. Ive had contract log mine from 100 miles away. As long as it’s connected to Wi-Fi

How do you stop a zone from watering? I have tried everything but it won’t stop it from the app, I have to go to the control itself and switch it off.

I’ve been able to stop a zone or zones from watering from the app. I’ve been able to do it before it runs or even while it is running. On the app, go to your watering zones and in the upper right, click on the gear. Then you can stop zones that are running or suspend zones.

Hunter Wand Wi-Fi Module for X2 Outdoor Irrigation Controller

The Hunter X2 wand is a simple, do-it-yourself installation that can be controlled by a mobile app. There have been some issues with the setup process not finishing, but starting over and connecting to the Hunter Wi-Fi usually solves the problem. The wand is compatible with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi but should also be able to connect to mesh routers. It is also compatible with the Hydrowize app, which can adapt watering schedules based on weather and trends. The wand is Watersense labeled and can be controlled through Google Nest Hub. However, linking it to any Wi-Fi network outside of home is not possible.
