The KNA Pickups Portable Piezo Violin/Viola Pickup VV-3 is an excellent option for musicians who are looking to amplify their stringed instruments. It can be safely removed when not in use and simply reversed by putting it on. The pickup amplifies all audible frequencies and can be directly plugged into a mixing board. This is a passive piezo pickup that neither requires nor supports phantom power. While it works great on a violin, it is reported to work fine on a 16inch viola as well. It comes with a clamp that is easily adjustable to accommodate various instruments. The VV-3 pickup seemed too bright and harsh at first but after some tweaking using an EQ and a good preamp, it produced a warm and natural sound that was completely satisfying.
