Question : Does it work on travertine?
Answer : Sorry but my experience is not good. I spent 2 days properly applying 2 coats to travertine tiles around our pool. The protection lasted for about 8 weeks only. Very disappointed. I think Stain Proof is a big waste of money and as others have said the company do not stand behind their products. Never again!
Question : How much area does it cover? How many linear feet of grout does it cover?
Answer : Depending on what you are sealing, the average coverage on a typical seal is 70sqft. Per quart. On grout sealing, again depending on the size and depth of the grout joint, we've gotten about 250 sqft out of 1 quart.
Question : Is it good for a quartz countertop or is a less expensive sealer just as good?
Answer : For quartz, I would recommend the Stainproof Plus. This sealer will actually penetrate quartz which is non-porous while other sealers will not. Most quartz manufacturers advertise that quartz does not need to be sealed but we have seen some quartz products that do in fact stain. Some more than others.
Question : What is the difference between stain proof and stain proof plus?
Answer : Stain Proof Plus is designed to penetrate the most dense natural stones, such as granites and quartzite. It contains an even higher amount of sealing protection over the original Stain Proof sealer. The Stain Proof Plus is best designated for countertop use.
Question : Just had Quartzite kitchen countertops installed and sealed with this 15 year sealer. What would be safe to use to clean/maintain the countertops?
Answer : Marble life granite or marble cleaner, it is safe on all stones, all metal, paint, wood, great for cleaning up grease with great oil emulsifiers, developed by Union Carbide over 20 years ago. Available on Amazon.
Question : My quartzite countertops were just installed and this was used. When do I need to reseal?
Answer : Maybe years of then. Holds up really well.
Question : Is it ok put sealer 24 hours before grout?
Answer : I assume your question is before grout arrives or uses counter. Should probably be ok, but better to wait maybe. If the sealer is done off-gassing by then would be a good sign. Also apply strictly per instructions, i.e. thin coat(s), buffing, etc. You can start with a thin coat, 24 hours, group and then 2nd thin coat. Also check what manufacturer says on can regarding when safe to use. Great product.
Question : Will this work on a porcelain tile kitchen floor?
Answer : Nope, porcelain is a sealed product, nothing will get through to it. You can clean it and lightly polish it, but that's it. However, it is great for the grout.
Question : If I use this on tile floors, does it only protect against water, or dirt and grime as well?
Answer : Need to ask the manufacturer if the product is suitable for floor foot traffic, if so I would think yes regarding dirt and grime.
Question : What is the difference between stain proof plus and premium? I just had new quartzite counters installed and would like to seal them myself.
Answer : This stuff was recommended to me by someone that used it. It works very well, still no stain.
