Do these work as well as the steel punches with the steel block? I'm just starting out and find the steel punches a little bit intimidating.

These ultimately are used in the same way. However, the nylon is much less durable and only intended to be used for soft/light work. The steel punches are able to withstand more abuse. Thank you!
